Black Belt Fall Class of 2019!
Updated: Jan 21
Congratulations to our newest black belts who endured a grueling six-hour examination conducted by Grand Master Tat-Mau Wong and Master Jeff Chow on Saturday, November 2nd. The examination included a comprehensive review of all their Kung Fu techniques and knowledge. Students were led through weapon sets, hand forms, rapid Choy Lay Fut combinations, self-defense, and they ended the test with challenging endurance exercises and board-breaking.
As a spectator, it is always amazing to watch all the students perform their forms and exude so much passion and determination. I can only imagine how accomplished they must have felt as the instructors tied their belts. It also warms my heart that our daughter is able to experience these monumental moments. She looks up to each and every student and sometimes "practices" what she sees when she watches class.
This particular Black Belt Test was very special because most of the students who were present were from One Tribe. It was amazing to see students who started as White Tigers become Black Belts. I am always in awe of the strength, determination, and grit the students exhibit while preparing for the test.
It was great to end the night on such amazing speeches by all the students. I feel so proud to be a part of such a great community, and I look forward to the next graduating class! Congratulations again to all the graduates!
